Well I thought I better write a blog for May as it will soon be over! I rode the dartmoor classic but rode the 100k as the conditions were so bad. I can only take my cycling cap off to those who did the 100 miler. I know I will have another go next year. The scenery was stunning and worth the effort. Even better I rode it on my new bike.
Living without a car is not easy I must admit. If I had never owned a car then fine, but I have and I know how easy it was to get to places. I will continue to the end of the year for sure and take it from there really. I wish people would make short trips by bicycle or foot as I know it would improve the environment we live in.
See you in June folks

I'm starting my own bicycle commute - I'll be trying to make it through the year, winter and all, it's great to know that I'm not the only one crazy enough to try and do this.
I have been commuting by bike on and off for a year but have stepped up to the plate the last 6 weeks and made sure that I always ride in. I am selling my car altough the wife will keep hers. If I have to go by car I try to scrounge a lift rather than make a journey solo. You should consider yourself an inspiration to all those out there that agree with your thoughts and are trying to live the same lifestyle
i think its awesome that you're living carless. not many people today are willing to give up the freedom that a automobile provides, but some of the freedoms you gain from biking are well worth the trade.
i went without a car for two years, two years ago and it was something else. and just recently my car went tits up on me so im carless again. but with the fuel prices as high as they are, i think this was a blessing in disguise. so, thumbs up and keep at it! i think this might soon become a popular trend!
I was wondering if you card to share how life w/o a car is going and if you're still at it. I am hoping to start my own experiment soon. I am quite nervous as I live in Alaska and the Winters can be pretty gnarley. Luckily, I work in a bicycle shop with several folks who winter bike. A pal gave me a book called "Divorce Your Car" years ago and I think I'll read it up and look for tips, but anything you might suggest would be helpful as well. My car has needed a bunch of work, about a new bike's worth, lately and I thin it might be time to make the split! Peace, Tapia
